Karl, CCC staff member (pictured in the middle), was training Jonathan, a University of Missouri St. Louis (UMSL) student (pictured on the right), to communicate his faith using the picture survey called "Soularium." In the Lord's good timing, they bumped into Edison, an international student from China (pictured on the left) that Karl had met earlier in the school year. Edison agreed to do Solarium with Karl and Jonathan.
Karl asked Edison, “Which image best represents your spiritual life?” Edison responded by selecting a picture with an open door. He explained, “I can see through the door but I can’t get through the door.” Karl's next question went deeper, “When you think about your spiritual life or journey, which image best represents what you wish were true?”. Edison picked an image of a student on campus. When Karl explored that further, Edison revealed, “I came to school in the US hoping that students would teach me how to get through the door and know God.”
Karl and Jonathan shared the gospel with Edison who made indicated a decision to seek forgiveness and give Jesus control of his life. Edison kept saying how “moved” he was. During their time together they were joined by Nathan from Indonesia who told Edison, “This is the most important decision you’ll ever make. Congratulations!” Jonathan closed their time together by praying for Edison.
Since then Edison has been one of the most faithful students of their Bible study. A couple weeks ago, Edison brought a Chinese friend, Kathleen, to the Bible study. About halfway through, Edison had the opportunity to explain to Kathleen in Mandarin how she could have a personal relationship with God. At the end of the conversation, Kathleen made the life-changing decision to put her trust in Christ.
God did an amazing work in Edison’s life, bringing him to faith and now Edison is multiplying his faith by sharing with others.
