This semester we have taught through the book of Acts during our weekly meetings at Maryville. I spoke this past Thursday on "Acts 29" to emphasize every Christian's on-going responsibility to take the gospel to new people and new places. our team has had the great privilege this year to physically be a part of taking the gospel all over the country and all over the world.
We regard Southeast MO State in Cape Girardeau as one of our "priority schools." We are looking to establish a movement of students committed to worshiping Jesus and extending his message of forgiveness to others on campus.
Part of what makes this entry so special is that we had six Lindenwood students travel to Cape Girardeau with three CCC staff members during their spring break. The other special part of this story is what has happened:
* They met 300 students through their IPod giveaway
* The www.everySEMOstudent.com site exposes hundreds more (344) to the gospel
* There is a group of 10-15 students still meeting weekly for prayer, Bible study and outreach.
* Since then, we have met a number of students who will be new students at SEMO next fall who are looking forward to getting involved with us on campus!
One of CCC staff members, Justin, was sharing his faith in the cafeteria. He started talking with two fraternity guys both named Ben. The fraternity population is incredibly influential on campus, so he was praying for divine appointments with fraternity men. As Justin got into the conversation, he couldn't really tell how interested the guys were by their body language, but he sat down and began talking through the QuEST survey with them.
Every time they had an opportunity exit the conversation they simply expressed more interest in hearing about Jesus. So, Justin walked through the gospel with the Bens and one of them rededicated his life to the Lord and the second Ben indicated a decision for Christ. The Bens are members of one of the more influential fraternities on campus!
