Almost a different country

Holly and I are struck by the thought that moving to California might be similar to moving to another country. We will, of course, have all of the conveniences of living in America, so I don't mean to be melodramatic. This region of the U.S., however, is a very different culture than Missouri, and the people are much more diverse.  Grant will start Spanish this fall, in anticipation of the change.

The clipping below, taken from the March 30th edition of USA Today, depicts the increasing diversity in the U.S. population over the last few decades.  The darker blue areas depict the counties where if two residents were chosen at random, the likelihood that they would be of different ethnicities is 55-85%.
